Behind the Screen

 week 1

Hey, I'm Danielle and I'm socially awkward. Maybe not so much in the real world, but definitely in the virtual one.

So, it makes perfect sense for me to take up a role in social media management, right?  Duh!

I'm hoping this internship will make me more comfortable with social media because I feel, as designers, we tend to be more introverted. If I can get out of my funk, it’ll benefit me in the long run. I also believe that social media is a huge part of visual communication and, since it's not something we cover in college, gaining experience in this area is invaluable.

Anyway, let's get to the good stuff. This is my first week and it's been INTENSE, to say the least. On my first day, I had to shoot a video following a viral trend. My job was to create a ONE SECOND reel... (don't tell anyone but) it took me the whole day. Something about having a camera in front of me felt so unnatural. But after a lot of frustration and complaining, it was done and it was done well.

The next few days went a little better. I created some posts for clients and learned quite a lot about video editing. The shift from Bombay to Dubai was something to get used to because I was expected to be proficient with editing apps that I had never even heard of before. But if I could learn 3D Blender, CapCut was nothing.

Thursday and Friday were the hardest for me. I had to create a reel introducing an upcoming sale we’re having. I practiced saying my script about 300 times! Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night still saying it!! But I got it eventually (on the 301st take).

So, that’s a wrap on my first week. ttyl <3
